We recently got a new Jeep Rubicon with the specific intention of coming here to Moab this summer. Our beautiful new Jeep came with many techie features for off-roading, and Gary added a few more before our trip.
I enjoying accompanying him on these off-road adventures, especially in a gorgeous place like Moab, Utah. Many of these off-road trails allow for some bumpy, dusty, and rocky moments, but I prefer the easier trails that don’t scare the crap out of me!
One day, Gary took a guide with him on the more difficult trails, you know the ones, 1,000 -foot cliffs, narrow boulders to drive up and over, hair-pin curves or 40% grade drop offs…yes, Gary and Jason did great together – it was worth every penny. I was happy to stay back at the RV and relax.
The next time Gary took me on a trail, after he had honed his new skills, I could tell his confidence was higher and he really knew what to do in hairy situations.
The views in Moab are spectacular. The sense of adventure really plays out when you are in the middle of nowhere with no one around, there is just a sense of peace and quiet, true solitude. It’s wonderful.
Moab is a great, quirky town, definitely worth a visit whether you like to hike or off-road, just for the nostalgia of visiting old western towns. The Main Street has a building that is a nod to the days when the town mined for Uranium. It’s close to Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park.
