It’s another rainy afternoon in southwest Florida and all is right with the world, for now. The annoying woodpeckers have finally abandoned our shutters and corbels, the condo has had its Spring cleaning, the snowbirds have departed thus leaving our roads somewhat less busy, and Gary and I are prepping for our next big summer RV adventure to places new and old.

The Lights are going to be ‘off’ again beginning June 21st – September 1st. We hope you will follow us again this summer as we make our way north towards my sister’s beautiful Virginia lake house for a big family reunion. I can’t think of a better place to be while celebrating our amazing country’s 250th birthday!

We will then be heading west, always west, to explore some new locations, National Parks, small towns, favorite woods and deserts. We plan on traveling through the Midwest in Ohio, Indiana, Illinios, Iowa, and Nebraska, then through Colorado, Utah, and the Southwest states of Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and finally back through the Gulf States of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, and then home to Florida.

We are especially excited to test our new Jeep on the Moab, Utah trails; to boat ride in Lake Powell and visit the Slot Canyons In Arizona; to experience an International Dark Sky locale and view the Milky Way in all its glory in Marfa, Texas and hopefully experience Big Bend National Park (in the sweltering August heat – are we nuts?).

As always, our trips begin and end with visiting our family in Jacksonville, Florida. Spending time with Cameron, Carter, Maddy, and the magnificent Avaya always gives us a sense of peace and love, strength and purpose. We feel whole again being with them. Someday, we hope they can join us in an adventure, too.

So come along with us this summer and read about this beautiful and vast country of ours, come celebrate with us the places and people that make our country good, kind, friendly, and diverse. Through our words and pictures we hope to share with you not only interesting facts and information, but stories that confirm why America is best understood from the open road.
