Our vacations all seem to either begin or end in Jacksonville, where Cameron, Carter and Maddy, Avaya, and the dogs, all live. Even though our home is in Naples, our hearts are there with them. We decompress from our journeys and adventures, relive the highlights, and get our fill of precious moments with Avaya.
We don’t quite relax, not with five dogs and a baby! And because the kids are so busy with their jobs and taking care of a 9-month-old, we sort of take on a lot of projects around their homes.
We are gearing up for our first holidays with Avaya and we all can’t wait to see her reactions to it all. We already enjoyed her facial expressions at her first pumpkin patch experience – a mix of bewilderment and awe at all the sights, smells, and tactile moments. Not all pumpkins are created equal, as you know. They are bumpy and lumpy and crooked and smooth, they are orange, green, white, and even some are purple. There was hay to hold in her tiny hands, and as with everything else, promptly in her mouth it went. Yucky!
Gary and I are hoping to finally make it to Key West in a few weeks. We have postponed the trip twice now due to Gary’s drone job commitments and the government shutdown uncertainties.
I want to snorkel off from the Dry Tortugas and sit watching that gorgeous sunset from Sunshine Key. I want to bike around downtown Key West and stop into the regular hot spots and people watch.
Well, fingers crossed that our next blog post is recapping our trip south. If not, then our next travel blog may have to wait until next year.
Either way, until the next time, when the Lights Are Off, indeed.
