Our stay at Collier Seminole State Park was pleasant. It is a smaller, older, and somewhat dated facility, but the sites were good sized and the grounds were well treed. The restrooms and shower facilities were small and a little worn but I would say they’re about par for a state park. We didn’t use the showers, however the toilets were clean and functional.
The electric pedestals were recently upgraded, and the power quality was excellent. There was water on the site and there is a dump station with a water hose for tank rinsing in the park. Site 100 is on the perimeter and backs up to the preserve area, making it quiet and comfortable. Due to the park’s location next to the mangroves of the everglades, it is buggy, particularly in the evenings.
All the staff that we interacted with, either on the phone or in person, were extremely pleasant and helpful.
Activities at the campground are limited but there is a beautiful waterfront area with access to fishing and kayaking. There is also a boat ramp if you are towing your boat along. The nature trail was closed due to damage from several hurricanes that passed through the area in recent years. These storms also damaged some of the park’s buildings which are in need repairs. There are no bike paths or trails in the nearby vicinity but the park itself is nice for a short ride.
The park is a bit outside of town, which makes it nice for a slower pace and both Marco Island and Naples are a short 15-minute drive. There is also a beautiful Publix less than 5 minutes from the entrance as well as many choices for dining nearby.
